Oh cool, good to see the power button is still on the other side of the fucking menu. You know, the thing that I’m clicking on 90% of the time I’m opening the Start Menu? Why have that easily reachable like in past versions of Windows? Silly me I guess.
Honestly not too familiar with that. I imagine if they’re touting this as a new thing, FRP either does something different or was lacking compared to this in some way.
Though it is Google, they could have just killed FRP in favor of this and added messaging features like they do with everything else
For what it’s worth, they’re trying to fix that with Android 15. Not sure if this is one of the features they’ll also be back porting to older phones too like this article briefly touches on, but either way it sounds like if you factory reset the phone, it can’t be set up again unless they know your login: https://www.wired.com/story/android-15-theft-detection-lock/
Google says in a blog post, the company is adding four data protection features that can help keep your information locked down. The first stops your phone from being set up after a factory reset, unless the person knows your login details. “This renders a stolen device unsellable, reducing incentives for phone theft,” Google vice president Suzanne Frey writes.
Genuinely, this is the best news I’ve heard in a while for the reasons you listed. Apple is already fucking up the phone industry with anti-consumer policies that become industry trends. I shudder to imagine how deeply and irrepairably they would have fucked up the car market for consumers.
Don’t worry, every Hyundai comes pre-installed with anti-theft features in the form of premature engine failure!
They’re not very reliable either, but as long as you get rid of it before the 10 year mark when the warranty on the drivetrain expires, they aren’t entirely a bad option if you want something cheap.
This is where I’m at. Everyone has told me dating at work is a really bad idea. I don’t drink so I have no interest in trying to pick up a girl at a bar. And in general I’ve seen so many girls say they don’t like guys approaching them in public.
Like it feels like all that is left is these apps, but girls don’t seem to want to meet on there either. It feels like I’m missing something critical here on how to meet a girl at my age and it’s frustrating me to no end.
2013 Hyundai Elantra here. Despite full synthetic oil changes every 5k miles and new filters every year, my engine has now failed for a second time in 100k miles. The mechanic is telling me it needs a new engine, which is going to basically exceed the value of the car.
But at least it was cheap!
I used it. And I used Edge. This is the most braindead change they could have made. Edge automatically synced passwords to Authenticator across mobile and PC. Losing the ability to autofill passwords outside of Edge makes it significantly less useful.
If anything, as someone who was in their garden, this change is unironically making me want to go find another garden to play in instead of stick closer to theirs. Why is Microsoft so hellebent on making people hate it’s software recently?
