A block for you…
IED(EDS) sufferer and spectrum surfer. You probably won’t like what I have to say.
A block for you…
If I had 10k to leverage I would be shorting the FUCK out of this, it’s a bubble and everyone knows it
I complained about shit like this more than a decade ago and everyone just laughed and said ‘Oh they’ll never do anything like that’
You get what you fucking deserve
I dunno man, they’re really happy with the work life balance and the C-suites are happy with their productivity.
It’s funny even our sales and logistics departments are wfh, and the only people I ever see on the off chance I need to load a tape rack or something is security and building maintenance.
And we’ve been RIDICULOUSLY profitable all through covid. In fact covid only served to show the remaining staff how productive WFH is.
We are making so much money rn that they don’t even CARE about property costs and they leave the lights and AC on 24/7 for maybe 2 people in the entire site, and our 3 satellite sites are just as empty.
Sure there may be some A type salesbro personalities that need to be around others to work effectively, the largely spectrum oriented development community needs no such frippery.
Custom ROM or just go back to a flip phone.
It’s only going to get worse with the big players from this point on.
Rare Mistborn reference found in the wild
Holographic storage is a fluff project, the resolution we’d need to match modern density is simply to narrow to be done optically. I mean it sounds fun but will never be practical
I work at one of the top ten data processors in the world.
ALL of our devs have been WFH since 2014 and produce better work now than ever.
Your average user would also never be on lemmy to see this, at least for now.
Sounds like it’s time to put on a mask and go toss bologna on a bunch of robot cars.
I admit, you had me till the ‘900,000’ people part
LLMs aren’t going to take coding jobs, there are specific case AIs being trained for that. They write code that works but does not make sense to human eyes. It’s fucking terrifying but EVERYONE just keeps focusing on the LLMS.
There are at least 2 more dangerous model types being used right now to influence elections and manipulate online spaces and ALL everyone cares about is their fucking parrot bots…
I think mainly the wireless choice was for aesthetics, they were building experiences for billionaires and those assholes put way to much score in appearance.
Anyone who uses the F710 more than an hour will have it randomly disconnect like twice. No idea who okayed that part but it wasn’t even the affordable option at the time as it was ALREADY years out of production when they built the sub.
The vast majority of the cause of the 3 mile island nuclear meltdown was a moisture soaked compressor pump completely unrelated to any of the safety or emergency systems. With complicated failures, the actual fault is not always easy to detect.
It’s reasonable to think that the controller might have contributed to unexpected descent past safety levels, or prevented them from recovering when warnings appeared.
Absolutely agreed and I’ve had to replace the shoulder bumpers on mine twice now. ALSO the trigger traverse is RIDICULOUSLY LONG! Like I can fire an actual semi pistol faster and those have a five lb draw.
But man do they feel nice in the hand. No controller since the ps2 has felt like this to me.
Everyone’s joking here but I’ve owned and used an F710 since 2009 and they are ABSOLUTE CRAP.
I’m not even joking but their range is like 3 feet in the BEST conditions and their USB controller is proprietary and doesn’t even work with OTHER F710s.
Anyone who’s used one for more than a few hours knows this.
Why do I still use mine? Well the hand feel is amazing and the weight is perfect, but everything else is terrible and shouldn’t even be used for gaming.
The most terrifying AIs aren’t even LLMs.
The same AI imaging systems that we used to get a ‘picture’ of a black hole a few years ago can be trained on the EM signatures of HDMI cables, meaning they now have a TEMPEST like system that can reliably read and decode any monitor within a thousand feet.
That same system can be trained on social media temperature and be used to identify all sorts of metrics such as degree of depression, gender, career, degree of sociopathy, and a ton of other things like whether a person is pregnant even before they know it.
LLMs are a toy, crosslinking AIs are a menace.
But hardly anyone is looking at the serious problem.
For now it’s all butthurt artists angry that people are making porn with their publicly available art without paying them.
The real issue is our right to privacy and how we will be targeted once that is irrelevant.
Imagine if Drumpf gets into office again and one of his junior suckups says “Hey we can identify every social media account that spoke bad about you, and have a good chance of connecting them with a real world address and identity.”. With SCOTUS given presidential immunity, what do you think he will do with that knowledge?
And one for you
