I’ve been an early proton adopter and advocate. As well as Bitwarden. This constant need to move platforms is getting really old. Is Tuta worth it? Am I going to have to move in a year because they get private investors? Will they donate to omarchy in six months?
I’ve been with Tuta over a year now and have only seen it get better. But who knows what the future holds.
I have also stopped putting my eggs in one basket. I set up my own domains for email redirection via Tuta, so I can take the addresses with me wherever I go. Mullvad for VPN. Bitwarden for passwords. Set up my own onsite/off-site file backups. Stuff like that.
Trying to do things in a way that is still convenient but more flexible and modular, if that makes any sense.
Yeah I have domains with catchalls that forward to proton. But I’d still have to move proton mail and drive and pass. And I only moved to pass a couple months ago due to Bitwarden getting shady
I’ve been with tuta for a decade now and it just does its job.
I’ve been using Tuta now for almost two years, so far so good. However, my one big complaint is that their mobile app has been unreliable for me at times – not receiving emails as I expect. Still using the free tier, so that’s nice.
Ive only been with tuta for a couple of months and so far, no complaints. But I would keep an eye out due to Nextcloud and their partnership if your someone who is anti-cloud.
I run my own private Nextcloud but I definitely don’t want to self host email that’s a nightmare
