You know that’s not actually how any of this works, right? If anyone in those regions wants to become a Russian citizen, they have every right to apply for immigration and move there…but they don’t get to take the land with them.

Especially not at gunpoint, with the backing of a foreign invasion force.

Because other people live there too. So, the only way they can “join Russia” and take that land with them, is to kill their neighbors and steal their land in the process.

The only option for “joining Russia” that doesn’t involve killing people and stealing their land…is to leave. To go join Russia…but leave everyone else alone.

Actually as the people who live on that land they do get a greater say in what happens to it

The people living on a land, who were born on that land and whose ancestors worked to build up that land, have a right to their land and the right to stay on their land and the right to secede along with their land from a government that no longer represents them, wants to erase their history, forbid their language, separate them from their closest relatives, and force them to worship Nazis.

Why should the people of the Donbass voluntarily ethnically cleanse themselves from their ancestral land just so that Nazis from Western Ukraine can claim it? You sound like a Zionist.

To the people of the Donbass the real foreign invasion force is the one that came at gunpoint in 2014 from Kiev and started shelling them.

it goes to prove that it’s literally how things work and disproves your assertion:

You know that’s not actually how any of this works, right? If anyone in those regions wants to become a Russian citizen, they have every right to apply for immigration and move there…but they don’t get to take the land with them.

the texans didn’t move back to the united states.

Maybe I should have been more clear, then. That’s not how it works…anymore. We are supposed to be better than this. But, people like yourself always seem to make excuses for why stealing land and killing each other is fine, because other people also stole land and killed people in the past.

I’m curious how that logic works for you?

It’s genuinely shocking to me that anyone nowadays would actually use the concept of Manifest Destiny to make a point. Because it really doesn’t make the point you think it does.

you’re great at moving goal posts – now that i show it that it is indeed how things work, you’ve shifted onto being morally correct – but atleast we can agree on that part.

so i’ll play along: it was definately considered okay back then so when was the cutoff date for when it stopped because i have plenty of other examples like texas going all the way up until 2012 – 2 years before the ukrainians in the east peacefully and democratically voted to leave ukraine?

funny enough, all of my examples were fostered by the same hegemony that’s currently pushing the ukrainians to sacrifice themselves for the benefit of the epstein class as well. lol

Lol! I’m not “moving the goal posts”…you’re just completely missing the point.

When someone says “You can’t just murder people and take their land”, they aren’t claiming that it’s impossible…they’re stating a moral position. When you come back with, “Yes they can. It’s been fine to do that all along”…you are also stating a moral position.

What you also don’t seem to get here, is that you are simultaneuously criticizing some countries, for doing exactly what you claim is acceptable for other countries to do…and you’re using the examples you don’t agree with to justify the ones you do agree with. And you don’t even seem to recognize the hypocrisy in what you are saying. You can’t say we agree on the moral issue, while also saying that it’s acceptable because of whatever historical examples you can come up with where someone did something equally shitty.

Even your example of Texas is a perfect example of colonial imperialism, stealing land from its historical inhabitants, under the name of occupation rights. You think that justifies Russia invading Ukraine…but seem completely unaware of the parallel you’re highlighting? Seriously. Have you even thought about this argument? How does it make sense to you without also saying that colonial imperialsim is acceptable?

It was never acceptable. Even when it was still considered “just the way things work”. If you can see that it’s not acceptable for the US or Israel to murder people for their land and resources…then it should be easy to say that its not acceptable for Russia to do the same thing. Anything less, and YOU are the one “moving the goal posts”.
