Now I can’t say I am an expert in Korean history but it seems that NK wants the US out of SK not because they’re afraid of US attacks but because they want to take over SK. But you know Kim is pretty smart keeping his people uninformed about the world outside his country since it’s probably gonna be bad for him. If people really knew that he was not willing to give up his nuclear bullshit and keeping his people perpetually in the verge of famine while their southern counterparts are economically thriving, he probably would lose a lot of his popularity. He’s not making the same mistake as East Berlin that’s for sure.

Also, I wouldn’t say that Trump got concessions from NK. I was saying that the opinion of the SK people was swayed because they saw hope since the summit was between Moon and Kim would be fruitful. You want to put pressure on these things to make them more cost effecient. You’re in a capitalist system which does that job very well. But since this is not really a replaceable company, the government has to own these companies until they go public.

There’s no need for a new internet. Every garbage service has a somewhat viable alternative.

You have peertube instead of youtube Kagi, duckduckgo, marginalia, etc instead of Google search Lemmy instead of reddit Mastodon, polycentric instead of twitter Gitea instead of github Bandcamp instead of spotify There are probably more things but you get the idea. The problem is not the internet itself but that you have to have many people go to objectively less polished or paid services to protect their personal data. I don’t know how that would happen since honestly, the privacy shit doesn’t affect people’s everyday lives, but using different services does affect their lives.
