plague-sapiens
A genuine depiction of “Plague Sapiens”: a distinct form of human evolution, entirely erased from memory until it resurfaced from the infernal depths of space.

2·2 years agoYou’re welcome!
Imo Hardkernel is much better than any RPI (you mostly pay for the hype…). I’m running a HC2, N2+ and M1. Everything works. Armbian doing great work here. M1 runs native arm debian with a nice Petiteboot net installer. Give it a try if you wanted to take the RPI 5. And the M1 has an nvme and Sata port too (just need the bracket for a 2,5" drive).
Okay, yeah price difference in Euros in DE isn’t as big either. But you pay more for a worse CPU. Underclock and volt the CPU and you’re still having a faster CPU with more cores. My HTPC (HP 400 G4 with 8500T) draws about 20-25w while streaming.

Better get something used with an 8500t for much less. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=8500t&_sacat=0
Or an Odroid M1 with 8GB Ram for about 100-150 bucks. https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/odroid-m1-with-8gbyte-ram/

1·2 years agoYeah, Vodafone DOCSIS is OKish. Had that in another flat some years ago, but random reconnects occured all the time. Right now 1und1 being fucktards too. I wanted to move my 250Mbit/s DSL, but couldn’t do it online. Had to call, end of story I had a brand new 100Mbit/s contract and my old 250 one was still active at the old address… Took like 10 calls and many hours to fix this. Still don’t have the Instant Starter Kit with LTE. Gonna call them later…

5·2 years agoCries in 0,1 Gbit/s cause DE sucks ass. Won’t get fibre for years, but hey at least 100m away the municipality has fibre and the schools 1km away will get connected next year. They just put the cables around my street.

0·2 years agoThat’s why everyone should use GrapheneOS. Sandboxed GooglePlay services can be used, if needed. I personally use 3 proprietary apps, one of them is WhatsApp Business (self-employed and for stupid dipshits that won’t use anything else…), which is more privacy-friendly than the personal client itself. Join the resistance! Use GrapheneOS :)
Good read about push notifications on GOS: https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/9407-this-is-why-i-use-grapheneos

1·2 years agoI installed all fonts manually and with the autoinstaller b.net, eaplay, epic store and ubisoft connect and their dependencies as well.
If not sure, or steamdb info isn’t enough. Just install everything… Not the best solution, I know, but better than install one, test and repeat…
Usually all vcredis and .net are OK to install.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•What is the motive behind private trackers?English
91·2 years agoThat’s why I have abandoned private trackers. I only use public ones with a seed ratio of 2, because I like giving back. Everything else is downloaded with Real-Debrid and jDownloader2 (mostly OCHs or sometimes torrents, when there aren’t much/any seeders and the speed is unacceptably slow).

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•What is the motive behind private trackers?English
271·2 years agoI think there’s lot less potential abuse, if you control your tracker and the peers. If I remember correctly, you usually have to seed till a specific ratio is reached. I doubt that any copyright-infringment-abuse-company tries to get acces to those trackers, if they have to upload stuff at first.
