When that older DX game port was released, I think it took like 3 or 4 days for them to take it down. Probably even like a patch stomp tuesday situation when the interns hand off the script detections off to the lawyers.
It might take a bit longer if people stopped using sites like Youtube and Github, and tried not to include trademarked terms (or super-identifiable audiovisual content) anywhere.
It was a streaming site that pulled from a large amount of other sources automatically.
Funnily enough it didn’t have any discovery features whatsoever (no front page, popular, latest etc), it was just a search bar that took you right into the video so you needed an idea what it is you wanted to see. And I don’t think it was nearly as popular as other sites (like you probably weren’t finding it from search results, as I don’t think it even had the info that’d be grabbed, and probably didn’t even have SEO or anything like that)

As a fun aside, unauthorized sharing is the only reason I tried and bought the game back in early beta days before there was a demo (friend A owned, friend B didn’t, I tried it from friend B’s unauthorized copy of friend A’s game and got the copy too, later gave friend A $20 and info to activate my account because I didn’t have internet at home).
I backed up all of my own files except the jars apparently (because when you download every one they added up, and I didn’t do that when the servers were at stake). I even had a launcher still logged in but none of the files will download now. Prism is lame (but understandable, I guess) in that it just says “contact microsoft support if you didn’t migrate” or something like that, but you can just copy over accounts.json from polymc to use an offline acct. Though a few mods I’ve tried don’t work (and I feel like mod discoverability might not be the best?).
Also a small bit not directly in reply to you: I’m pretty sure this is actually the second migration too, at least for accounts that were started on the minecraft website (username–>email login+mojang acct). But of course searches only give info on this one.
The vote federation is different though, not sure if it’s just downvotes that don’t transfer but you can be downvoted on lemmy and it may not show on Kbin. Looking at OP’s account here doesn’t show a pattern of being downvoted, for instance.
I would say this falls apart when it gets to physical copies. Used sales, trading, borrowing, watching/playing together, recap videos or long-form reviews etc all can “deprive” value from seller’s immediate perspective (also for some things: DIY, clone recipes, dumpster diving etc). Also I don’t expect a company to have even the ability to determine if a downloader has ownership (especially if the only record is a physical receipt) before firing legal scares at people. It is even more pointless when a product is past its original life cycle.
Fresh in the box office and before ROI sure, I can see a point (say for the source of a cam rip). But I could also see reviews or comments, spoilers etc to possibly have a greater effect than the cost of 1 ticket.
Either way I’d say if people have the ability to pay, they will if the product is good and the company/service is respectable. That’s the point here, that paying customers are ultimately screwed over (just as I’m sure most employees/creators not at the very top were, because money). Also unsatisfied customers, lack of demos, lack of agreeable purchase methods/terms (also, too much splitting with subscriptions), lack of ability to give more direct support to creators (rather than publishers) etc.
That and I don’t think the government should do much to protect the profits of highly successful entertainment companies who have massive budgets on lackluster ideas and underbaked products. The news of being able to trash a nearly-complete movie for a tax writeoff is terrible, for instance.
I don’t know, I think a lot of modern life things have broken the capacity/effectiveness for solidarity in a lot of ways. Infrastructure, cost-of-living, surveillance state/police brutality, corporate money/efforts, underhanded politics etc. The worst part is that wins were made in the past but were undone systemically… and without fixing the broken political system first (if that even happens), some things won’t change for generations.
At least that’s how I feel as a broke shut-in in semi-rural USA… I’m just stuck.

It’s something like that, but way beyond me so I couldn’t get something manually let-alone full bindings. I was making a polygon loader+text format for Raylib and didn’t even finish that somewhat due to it not being straightforward to properly implement/use (beyond what I had already that is, and that I’d probably need to make an editor too). And a big reason for wanting Godot is to create and animate polygons in-engine eye example with an editor so yeah I’d rather wait.

I have had the thought that many languages have bindings for Raylib, so that lowers the bar a lot.
Beyond that, I can see a lot of problems. I already could use Raylib and a few other types of frameworks/libraries (UI, webui, TUI, fantasy console, scripting, microcontroller stuff) potentially, so any other language has to allow more/better options than that. Particularly as I don’t really have ideas for those (with few-or-no tools) right now to start there.
Alternatively, it’s a dirty language, but PHP is supremely usable.

I’m not quite sure on style but I want a jack-of-all-trades language (speed, ease, capability, options, platform options etc) and that’s a high bar. Nim seems like an outlier from everything I can see.

However there are other terms to use, in this case Kibibyte (kilo binary byte, KiB instead of just KB) that way you are being clear on what you actually mean (particularly a big difference with modern storage/file sizes)

You’re missing the point. We live in an environment that reinforces obesity, see also car-centric lifestyle which is an infrastructure problem. It’s not like humans “wanted” to be active before, it’s just that their activity was easily covered by work and travel without needing extra time and effort PLUS they may have already been at/near a caloric deficit just eating what was available to them.
Also I am not fully weened off sugar, but honestly I find a lot of things unpalatable due to the sugar content (like milk chocolate). I would be perfectly fine if sweet on its own wasn’t a primary flavor anymore. That and it’s at the point where you need to assume that there’s a significant amount of sugar in basically everything. For example, Ireland classifies Subway’s bread as cake due to the sugar content.
Sugar is cheap (and can be put in higher concentrations than in the past), and it makes sense to make unhealthy food cheap. I also wouldn’t look at the opioid epidemic or similar problems and say “only personal problems here”.
Oh yea I know it, had it worded as ‘company megacity’ at one point but didn’t want to sound anti-city.
That and even if they don’t own the city, it can be a detriment especially looking at new technological ways they could control workers even without physical isolation. And I’m sure they could use this power to exploit a greater number of people, too.

Except reality would be far more soul-crushing, most people wouldn’t have autonomy or success that make for interesting stories. Most people would just have the choice to live in a company office, die to corporate police, or become cyberhomeless.
If potential is key, I say keep the context of the MAID process but instead of outright death make it cryonics. Plus other potential relevant volunteer stuff and organ donation stuff lined up. Even if the initial cryonics technique is not even close to viable, other stuff could be transformative. If cryonics has any chance to work, things will get appreciably better in 300-or-so years right?
Hopeful worst is my brain in a jar mostly playing VR and sometimes knitting yarn via robotic arms. Lots of ways it could be better. Also unlike traditional cyborg stuff with all-machine life-support, I would like to still have a complex microbiome if not taking it further with symbiosis.
