I think there’s a reason these posts always end up on programmer focused places on the internet. Yes, I’m sure their job is annoying, and it would be easier to not have to solve time conversion problems, but the time conversion problems wouldn’t even go away if you forced everyone to use UTC. You’d just start having to do conversions to solar time, or looking up waking hours (which is just timezones)

Which is short sighted considering it is much easier to make a standardized library for converting time zones than it is to make a standard library reflecting what different time numbers mean in different places around the world. If they somehow convinced people to make the change, they would find out pretty quickly they were better off with the devil they knew.

I use it because I have learning difficulties and it’s nice to be able to ask question after question until I nail down the exact detail that I needed to be able to understand the concept I’m trying to learn. I’ll take all the downvotes in the world for this because the benefit I’ve got from using the service far outweighs anything else.

Their tactics aside, copilot is very useful. It’s helped me a ton on my education journey. Free and easy access to it on the desktop has been game changing for me.

I would say, take the money from other things that suck, like handouts to the rich and wasteful military overspending which would easily cover the things we need to cover. Defunding NASA would contribute to the dummification of the country and is a terrible idea.

They know most people who don’t know one way or the other are downloading chrome just because that’s what they heard to do. They also know anyone downloading firefox is doing so for a reason and won’t be dissuaded by pop-ups.

I think the number one answer is just that for so long people have heard not to use MS’s browser and most people have no clue one way or the other so they just follow the herd. (Not insulting them, there is no possible way for anyone to be intimately informed about every single topic and so for things you don’t care one way or the other, might as well follow word of mouth)

I use duck as my first choice, but unless I’m just looking up one word, it doesn’t find much useful. If I look for a specific question, duck doesn’t work at all and I have to go back to google. google is way worse than it used to be, but it’s still better than any other I have found yet.
