The general pattern is that 4k will be x265 and 1080P encodes with DV / HDR10 need to be x265.
But non HDR / DV 1080P and below is x264.

If you want transcoding then you want an Intel processor as their iGPUs can handle plenty of streams without breaking a sweat.
It’s better since it supports hardware transcoding and seperate user profiles including age ratings.
With the lifetime pass I’d say Plex is better, but without it there’s too many missing features.
