202·3 months agoIt was never about freedom, but about restoring control of European governments over their citizens’ online presence and their data, so that everything they do on the internet is subject to European laws and regulations, not American ones.

Hardware@lemmy.ml•Somebody please explain AMD's current CPU lineup.
41·11 months agoRyzen 9000 and AI 300 are Zen 5, 8840 is Zen 4.
There is also generally no connection between the name of the model and actual hardware generation, AMD is known to sell old CPUs under new names (yes they are scummy like that). For example Ryzen 7000 can be Zen 4, Zen 3 or even Zen 2. You need to look up specific model name to learn what CPU core it has. So far though Ryzen 9000 and Ryzen AI are all Zen 5.

Yes, but at this point you can’t even blame Microsoft for this. Maybe the issue lies elsewhere?

Technology@lemmy.world•Russian forces now using Musk’s Starlink on Ukraine front lineEnglish
34·2 years agoNo, he said that he doesn’t sell starlink terminals in Russia. When asked whether Russia uses starlink he declined to answer.
Yeah that’s a solved problem. Iran, Russia, China and other countries have gone through this “stages of denial” process years ago. It starts with “haha they are incompetent and can’t block everything” and 10 years later half the Internet is blocked and you have prison sentencing for accessing “illegal” information (for the flgood of the people of course). Anyone who claims that internet censorship is not possible is a naive person fortunate enough to live in a place where it’s not a thing.
“IT people/programmers are furry gay liberals” is a myth. There are plenty of bootlickers among them, like in any large enough group of people that’s not defined by a specific ideology/political affiliation.
