When have they sided, say, with the Sahel states against France, or with the Palestinians against Zionist occupation? The US is simply angry at Spain for not allowing the US to use their airspace against Iran, for openly making modest noise in support of Palestine, as well as for forging closer ties with Algeria, which will never be forgiven for expelling the French (same as Haiti in that regard).
