  • I’m not here to argue, but after a certain point it becomes a game of “hide the data stream”. You’d be amazed at how clever you can be with this, and inspecting the logic of embedded firmware is difficult.

It often looks something like this (in algorithm or nowadays A.I. functionality):

“When an accident occurs, keep a copy of the video file. After a random delay after the accident, during normal driving, when you don’t feel like you’re being observed, upload the video recording to one of these 40 IP addresses in 20–400 byte encrypted chunks over 7 days.”

This isn’t theoretical, I’ve seen it before, software being sneaky like this. Resistant to observation because it can detect an artificial testing environment or network snooping tools. Difficult to prove misbehavior because the data is routed through multiple hops before being stored, and you can’t easily inspect encrypted traffic. It might not even be the car manufacturer, it could be whoever is making the cameras. Basically, if it has a data connection and a recording feature, it’s not secure.

What the other person is trying to convey is the common operating rule of most businesses nowadays. Breaking the law is worth it to them if the profits outweigh the consequences. For example if they only just increase profit by 4% per year, a low chance of a 4% fine after say 5 years is absolutely worth it. The only way to curb this is with completely ruinous fines, like “we will fine you 50% of each year this happened, dissolve your regional organisation, or ban you from doing business in the entire regulatory area (in this case the EU)” kind of consequences. Anything else can be optimised away.

  • Man I really don’t like Roblox anymore… I used to play it a lot with the kids in extended family. I was the “funcle” so to speak.

I tried to log in one day and found my password and email address has been changed. Clearly it got hacked, dunno how, since it was a very strong password manager password. Probably a data breach or something.

Anyway, I recover the account, and I’m horrified. Some weirdo has been impersonating me and speaking to the young members of our extended family. Nothing serious yet thank God, I caught it early. But really weird stuff like asking what clothes they’re wearing. I contacted Roblox support but they didn’t give a shit. I told the family, but I don’t think they really understood what I was saying or why it’s serious.

I deleted my account to remove that attack vector because that’s just terrifying. Worse than those baby monitors security.

  • I recently made the mistake of opening a Facebook link by accident. I’ll document my experience so nobody else has to go through what I did.

I couldn’t even figure out what I was looking at, it was just a mess. Everything bleeds into everything else. I scrolled down from the cat video my mum sent me, and there was terrorist bombings in a foreign country. It just kept scrolling, felt like complete brainrot and emotional and contextual whiplash. Videos were auto playing with sound, and every post was a video.

I had 99+ notifications, but none of them were messages from a human. They were all engagement baiting. Everything on the page was fighting for my attention. Like what is even happening. I was bewildered and mildly frightened.

The Facebook I remember was when I would just see a feed of my friends’ activities, like my photographer friend would post all their beautiful artworks, another would post their comic strips, or a report on their weekend. I don’t like whatever it is now.

  • It was pretty immediate. I was like man this is ugly, but when I actually tried it, straight away I noticed it was extremely easier and faster to read and I made much less mistakes. Like normally I misread words and letters and numbers a lot and reread the same line over and over and words just look like identical blocky shapes. A lot of the time I actually just guess what word something is based on length and context, which kind of works but not really. But with that font I can read normally.

I only even realised I might have it and got it investigated when I accidentally changed the font to OpenDyslexic in Kindle because it was just there, and then I’m like, ok wow I didn’t even notice how hard it was before 😂

  • I remove my own upvote from my comments because I like things starting at 0.

Also, billions eat fast food every day, doesn’t make it good for you. I’ve tried all the A.I., because I believe in order to hate something, you must understand it first. Claude kept trying to do everything for me, even when I didn’t want it to. As a hypothetical example, if I asked it to explain a math problem without giving me the answer, it would give me the answer anyway. I don’t want something to help me that much, I like doing things mostly myself, with some assistance if needed. It causes damage to your skills, independence, and sense of value and worth in your work, if something is just like, “hey let me just quickly trivialise your entire idea and do it for you”.

From my experience every single A.I. is toxic or weird or subtly damaging to interact with, without exception. There’s just something unnatural about the way it communicates.

I won’t blame anyone for using it, that’s their own choice. But I really try not to for my own health.
