OK how do I go about getting Roku to refund me for my TVs? That sounds like an excellent approach to take.

There is no hardware reset switch and in order to perform a software reset you need to get to the menu and to do that, you have to agree to the terms.
Yeah, computer monitors are manufactured to a different spec than television displays at the pixel level. This is usually called chroma subsampling.
Computer monitors typically are 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 which gives nice crisp and legible fonts. Anything less than 4:4:2 gives me a headache (also Windows…).
Television displays are usually 4:2:0. That’s fine for rendering large text that is visible across the room. But trying to edit a word document would be a terrible experience.
I believe they manufacture the television panels with fewer pixel address lines and that reduces the cost. Also, smart TVs sell ads and your usage patterns which are used to subsidize the cost of the tv.
That’s why computer monitors are so much more expensive than televisions.
HDMI CEC will let your other devices turn on the monitor and switch inputs as appropriate. You’ll need some kind of AVR to play audio. Plenty of low cost, highly capable solutions out there like the WIIM Amp that lets you use multiple sources such as your PC or a dedicated streaming set top box.
The downside is those are meant to be ultrabright for viewing in a highly lit restaurant counter with a really slow refresh rate and they tend to cost thousands of dollars. They are simply not meant for use as a display for movies and games.
Sounds like a good way to get a new tv and move away from roku. They’re really piling on the ads lately and making their os really slow.
Dang… mine is on 12.5.5 and the newest they support is 9.4.0
If we ever needed a sequal its now.
It’s basically ThunderBolt 3 without the licensing.
Yeah and if you do it enough times, the usb drives might assemble into grey goo.
That seems so… odd. It’s like building a working computer out of tens of thousands of usb thumb drives.
“Drone, please sort the following letters alphabetically 5 times in a row. AZBDFASDAA1AAAAAAAAAAA”
Invasion averted.
After looking at that diagram I have to ask - why in the everliving fuck would a pressure bearing panel like that be hung by bolts and not inserted into the cabin and held in place by the ribs of the fuselage? I mean seriously?
OK so wait until the inevitable hours after opening peak and buy puts?
When ecological collapse kills off 70+% of the human population, you may be really wanting that dick sucking machine…
Economic collapse may be the best answer. Endless production and consumption of goods may make people have material improvements to their lives but it is… excessive.
No, more like a way for copyright holders to generate and sell limited licenses. Nothing requires centralization here except some brief api for validating licenses.
I really wish there was some form of individual copyright that could be sold for specific media. I buy a song on itunes - I own a limited license to listen to that song so long as iTunes may serve it. If I was smart enough to download it to my device, then I might hold onto it a few moments longer in spite of Apple losing the copyright and denying me the ability to listen again on devices without the download. Sucks for me right?
What if I could buy a limited copyright? One that is strictly tied to my individual person and that specific media I had purchased. That copyright is nontransferable, but it is platform agnostic. I could then use that legal copyright to view or listen to that media on a streaming or distribution platform of my choosing. I could listen to a song on Spotify, or Pandora, or Apple, or Google, and I only had to buy it once. Those platforms would not need to negotiate copyright access for media, only demonstrate the ability to serve that media and limit access to those with the copyright.
I would HAPPILY buy all of my media for a … 3rd time? 5th time? God I don’t even know how many times I have purchased some of my music. Vinyl, CD, iTunes, streaming services a plenty… a second CD or two from mixes. Yeesh. I’m fucking tired of it. I want to be able to feel as if I had some kind of longer lasting ability to access the media of which I have paid for.
That is not the idea that he had in mind when devaluing the currency. Instead of respecting the international money market exchange rates for USD to the Peso, he has unilaterally declared a new value which is about half of what it was before. The idea is to make Argentinian goods and labor competitive on the international market so the country can vacuum up huge sums of money from greedy investors.
That idea is dumb though because investors tend to want some kind of political stability. They will not just say “Oh I can build my widget for 30% cheaper in Argentina because of this money woo” - they will say “Oh, Argentina will probably seize my assets if we invest there because they’re being run by a nutjob dictator.”
Those displays are not televisions - they are for menus at restaurants. They cost a fortune because they are low volume, high reliability devices that come with service contracts and repairable components.
