I hate to say it but there are simply so many subjects to cover in a single day that it’s hard to reinforce the lessons learned in class within the given amount of time in a school session. Maybe if schools were structured in a way in which fewer subjects were taught each day would the lessons stick better without the need of homework.
Recruiters keep asking me to apply and I must’ve told them to pound sand about 3 times in the past 2 years.
The janitor works for $8/hour out of desperation. The CEO works for $10k/hr out of greed. The difference in pay rates based on position should be regulated. I think a CEO should only be paid at most 10 times more than the lowest paid job in any organization. That way everyone will have some parity and a shot at a decent life even at the low end.
I wouldn’t mind if they passed the savings on to the consumer… But they won’t.
Mexico encouraged Americans to move into Texas as means to populate and develop the area so long as the settlers agreed to assimilate to Mexican culture. Unfortunately the settlers weren’t loyal to the Mexican government and started a revolt for independence when Mexico outlawed slavery in 1829. Thanks to the fumblings of general Santa Anna, the rebels captured him and had him sign the Treaties of Velasco in 1836 essentially conceding all land above the Rio Grande to the rebels in exchange for his life.
This of course infuriated the central Mexican government and they refused to ratify the treaties. Due to internal instability though the central government was unable to do much about it and had no choice but to leave the matter alone. It was only after Texas was admitted to the US as a slave state did president James K Polk start a fight with Mexico over the territory that eventually led to Mexico’s defeat and loss of all other land that make up the states you’re referring to.
Even though all Mexican citizens who ended up in the new American borders were invited to stay as American citizens, some were systematically deported over the years well into the early 20th century.
Pancho Villa attacked US border towns in 1916 which prompted general John J Pershing to launch an unsuccessful expeditionary force to capture or kill him. The Mexican American War happened in 1846 to 1848 which was before his time. I think you might be referring to the Mexican Border War that was part of the bigger Mexican Revolution going on at the time. Either way I doubt Mexico would allow another military incursion from the north this time around.
I really hope they don’t act out on blowing up satellites. Kessler Syndrome will ruin any hopes of future space habitation and exploration for generations to come.
Instead of the stick of paying people less from working home, they’re getting a carrot for deciding to be there. That has a wildly more positive perception for workers IMO.
My parent company issued an RTO for everyone stating the typical corporate talking points (we did great during COVID but now we need to all come back within a month because we all work better together, blah, blah, blah). A half hour later an HR rep had to clarify it was meant to apply only for the parent company. I imagine the parent company is doing poorly and is trying to shake off some workers to cut down on its payroll. The only reason I can think of why they can’t force my smaller company is because we’re actually making them a lot of money so far.
A remote worker’s worth is no less valuable than one who’s onsite. If you want something like this to work then the employer should pay a differential for those who have to be onsite to compensate for the time and money spent commuting.
We can all do our part by not buying anything from those who do this.
Please don’t do this! Rich people love living in obscurity, it keeps attention and anger from their stupid decisions away from them and on to some scapegoat. This is like the opposite of the Streisand Effect and will only serve their interests. I know it’s annoying to keep seeing the same billionaires in the headlines but the alternative is to be passive about their awful projects and the harm they’re doing to the world. You’ll only be doing them a favor with this addon.
This is the kind of shit Japan said about its Great East Asia Co Prosperity Sphere when it basically subjugated a lot of its neighbors prior to WWII… I hope history won’t repeat itself in such a way.
It’s Facebook for corporate shills and people who pretend to be one when looking for a job.
