Honestly didn’t know Facebook even had a fact-checker system. They are pretty explicit in their mission to sow discord and disinformation, it’s basically their whole business model

The word your looking for is extortion
Your totally fine, I was mostly poking fun at how much of a nightmare things like this can be to read. I was probably a bit heavy handed with my comment though, sorry. Might’ve also been stoned and forgot to finish what I was trying to say, lol.
Dear, OP
Kindly go fuck thine self.
Yours truly, This dyslexic idiot.
I sorta did this at my old factory job by setting up all the machines to run damn near perfectly then I peaced out before showing anyone how to actually run the set-ups.
It’s giving off some serious Pontiac Aztec vibes
The only people they care about defending are the rich and powerful. Aka, the ones that don’t ever have to worry about their health.
I’m not saying its an excuse or that we should continue to support Googles greed. But, it’s hard to convince people to change en-masse if there isn’t a viable alternative to go to.
Part of the problem is there are effectively no alternatives to YouTube. The other options are either just front-ends or completely lack enough creators to have the enormous wealth of videos and information.
Its definitely improved a lot since I joined ~6 months ago, though I’ve also started to see more of the bullshit that makes all the other social medias icky. But, so far its been easy to ignore/block and its cool to run into familiar users across different communities that comes with smaller platforms.
Except corporations aren’t meant to make a profit, they’re meant to make the executives at the top a profit. Everything else is just a mechanism to do that.
So says Microsoft
I’m pretty sure Google will just say that whichever VPN let’s Google steal the most data is the “safest”.
Lol, ok bud
You have yet to offer any new perspective other than to say “your wrong” or “your lying”. If you can come up a convincing argument and support it, then I would be more than happy to learn something new and change my mind.
I’m not convinced you even know what intellectual property is and aren’t merely parroting the controversial opinions of random people on the internet. Here are some links that might be of use to you;
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intellectual_property
https://www.findlaw.com/hirealawyer/choosing-the-right-lawyer/intellectual-property-law.html
Intellectual property is a social construct, but that does not negate its reality or make it fictitious. Its the very thing that copyrights, patents, trademarks and countless laws were created to protect. And it’s an invaluable tool for people that need to protect their ideas and creations, especially artists and makers. The issue with intellectual property is that most of the laws surrounding it were created by/for corporations and rich people, and wind up fucking the rest of us over.
My understanding has always been that artworks that you create are your intellectual property that is automatically copywrited, at least in the United States. From the article it seems like that is either not true or it’s being ignored by the court.
So now artists are going to have to actually apply for copyright? What the fuck happened to intellectual property?
I entirely agree, except I don’t think it has anything to with maximizing profits for Facebook. If it did, then the logical thing to do is whatever gets the most people on the site the fastest, not do something that instantly alienates a massive amount of people. It does have everything to do with maximizing profits for those in charge of running the Facebook show, though. Then it makes perfect sense to align the company with whatever political regime can promise the most bloody money for the new yacht and underage ‘entertainment’.
Also, I genuinely think the Zuck gets off on being a slimy little cunt and is probably really excited right now. Facebook has always been a little too quick to go down the scummy road, even for capitalism.
