It is total BS. Offline vacuum cleaners do mapping and localisation just fine. It is just an excuse to spy on your home.
A human on earth. Ask me about weird tech. Bonus points if it radiates.

To be fair, I think it is okay to ask for a one-time fee for something you’ve developed. You want to use this $tech that I made? Sure, pay me 10 ct for every device you put it in.

I disagree on one point: the job of the education system is not to produce new workers, but to produce citizens. If I were I charge, I would force all stem students to take humanities courses. We have enough narrow-minded tech Bros.
Honestly, I get why one would be discouraged by signal, but as long as your threat model is not “NSA and mossad have a price on my head”, I think it is still the best non-federated alternative. I’d rather take a flawed messenger with well regarded encryption than a beta version that nobody with time and crypto knowledge ever looked at.
modern
But i also feel like xmpp got feature creeped. Not to long ago, basically every messenger spoke its own subset of xmpp, basically.

The funny thing is, half of Telegram is drugs, conspiracy nuts and really weird humour. The ai is going to be great, I can already see it.

Honestly? Cool that you are asking, but I just want a coffee, not a conversation.
Yes, I’m German, how could you tell?

It is more about being able to constantly spy on everyone. Funny how this exact sentence would have labeled one as a conspiracy nut not too long ago.
Constantly online means constant (more or less) analytics, means constant data to throw in the big computer to make you buy more shit or vote for the shit party.

I am outside of the US, and I do care. Biggest army and economy and so on. Even if not, I would not want to be associated with, idk, Australian wannabe tyrants either.

I’d like to point out that it is only one single proposal. If this does not get shut down, then it is time to be worried. But for now, it might just be one glue-sniffing Congressperson sniffing the wrong kind of glue one morning.

It is much worse. I hope I am reading it wrong, but:
The term ‘‘technology’’ […] includes […] any semiconductor, circuit board, operating system, graphics processing unit, central processing unit, tenor processing unit, field-programmable gate array, random access memory, hard drive, solid-state drive, dataflow architecture, or cloud-computing service, that is manufactured, designed, developed, supplied, deployed, completed, […] [etc.] to function artificial intelligence […] and any other hardware, software, equipment, device, component, robotic computer, processor, network […] that is manufactured, designed, developed, supplied, deployed, […] [etc.] to function artificial intelligence or generative artificial intelligence.
This would mean that importing and exporting literally any piece of IT equipment, from a Ubuntu installer to a RAM chip, is illegal. Good luck & have fun.

What the fuck, for real?

Unfortunately, farmers markets are rarely open in the evening. Actually that is a bit of a business opportunity…
Why? I have plenty of disk space, a few unused binaries wont hurt me
