  • I have no idea. I didn’t even know they had these until people were suggesting we move to discord from Reddit a couple months ago.

I use discord the same as you. Hop in a voice chat with friends and then close discord. I’ve never used it for anything other than a bloated ass voice chat client lol

Edit: didn’t realize you were a different person. I use discord the same as the other guy I replied to.

  • Feel sorry for them.

My parents have starlink. Muskrat raised the price less than 1 month after them having it. Then over the next couple months, rolled out a data limit of 1TB per month.

Their speeds also went from 250mbps down and 50mbps up to 10-15mbps down and 5mbps up.

They currently pay $150 per month for bottom of the barrel shit internet that drops signal multiple times per day. When they contacted support, support blamed it on third party routers, despite them using 100% starlink hardware.

    Enjoy that, Mongolia.

  • Development is hard. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are waiting to see if Lemmy sticks before spending time.

Also they need to make a living some how. I’m sure implementing ads into a Lemmy app right now wouldn’t go over well.

It’s better for them to dust their resume off, update it, and attempt to get a new job before dabbling into making a free app with no revenue streams.

  • I hate this response.

Mojang also spies on your private server hosted on your own PC with your own internet playing with your own friends.

Mojang shouldn’t get that kind of control. That’s crazy.

Also, does Mojang require photo ID before they ban people for “slurs”? I’m not sure if a black person should get banned for saying the N word on their own private server.

Maybe if Mojang helps pay for my internet bill or my electricity bill they can have control over my private server. Until then, they can kindly screw off.

And the fact they’ve released patches specifically to block mods that remove chat reporting and nothing else goes to show how scummy they are.

Chat reporting should only be enabled on PUBLIC REALM servers hosted by Mojang. That’s really the only place you can justify what they are doing.

  • People don’t matter. Content matters.

If big content creators leave, you’re going to have 450MM users sitting there looking at a blank screen.

I mean damn, my front page (not signed in) is so empty. I’m seeing the most random weird subreddits that I’ve never seen before, because there’s no other content making it to the front page.

Companies like Mojang (Minecraft devs) pulled out of Reddit today, so now they’ll have to wait for someone to repost all of the news, and have to go to different websites to report issues with the game. I’m sure other companies will eventually do the same.

Not to mention NSFW content is probably going to be really restricted or frowned upon, considering NSFW subs cannot be monitized. That pulls a TON of porn off the platform, which unsurprisingly amounts to a ton of users.

Is Reddit dead? No. But it’s going to drop dramatically in quality. We haven’t even hit July yet. Lots of people are going to be in for a rude awakening when their apps stop working. I know there’s a large amount of people who are very ignorant to all of this, and don’t even know their apps (and porn) are going to be gone July 1st.
