Back when I got off in 2019, there was a tool (Facebook sponsored somewhere in the settings) that allowed you to save everything in an offline HTML file that you could host locally and get access to things like picture albums, complete with descriptions and comments. Not sure if it still exists, but it made the process incredibly painless getting off while still retaining things like pictures.
I really regret recycling my 32 inch Trinitron back in the mid-2000’s…
So I’m still using Windows on my desktop, but from my experience with Proton on Steam Deck, Proton works pretty flawlessly essentially translating the windows exe. I’m assuming it’s the same for a Linux desktop setup but I’ll let others who actually have experience here comment further. The only thing that you may have issues with are competitive online games, but those aren’t really my jam but understandable if they are for you.
Passthrough doesn’t work well on a bike when there’s wind rushing past the microphones that record the passthrough sound. This product fixes that.
You may need to sign up for beta access to the Messages app in the Play Store to gain access. Attracted is a screen shot of what it looks like on my end, you tap the 4th button from the right. For what it’s worth, I don’t use it…

Sorry, didn’t realize you were referring to promos that Spotify runs for their content. Yeah I guess they don’t have a way to turn that off, but it’s a simple button to get past.
Also, fast forwarding really is not a big deal. While I’m out walking my dog and kiddo I just tap my ear buds twice and it fast forwards 15 seconds past the baked in ads in the podcast.
If the ads are baked in, just hit the 15s jump button a couple of times until you get back into the podcast. The ones I listen to usually play music during the ads, so when I hear the music is over I know I’m back in the podcast.
I’m very new to the concept of fediverse, but can’t the same thing happen to any Lemmy instance? Say for example Beehaw becomes the go to for a lot of popular topics and suddenly that admin decides to implement some assinine requirement to continue using it’s instance and then just decides to nuke it following resistance from the community? A bit more extreme than the Reddit situation, but still curious.
The WGA started their strike at the beginning of May. SAG entered negotiations at the beginning of June but have authorized a vote to strike should negotiations not go their way. We’ll find out at the end of the month if SAG decides to strike.
No end in sight and SAG might be up next at the end of the month. They’re in negotiations right now.
