A parent shouldn’t be letting their single digit aged child have unsupervised access to the Internet. Agreed that they shouldn’t be publicizing it, but this idea that parents should be letting their kids have secrets when they’re so little is one way dangerous adults take advantage of kids.

It’s a fediverse wide collaborative art project!. You follow the link, log in with your fediverse account (you provide your username, they dm you a code, you use that to login) and then you can start placing pixels to create your art. The purpose in my opinion is two fold: one, making art is fun in and of itself! And two: it’s fun to participate in a community event. The whole thing is practically an exercise in decorum and human nature, and will others graffiti your art piece or cover it up, or add to it?

I added three sprites. A buzzy beetle from Paper Mario, a jujimo from Stardew Valley, and a triforce from Zelda. No one disturbed my pieces, and a stranger worked on my triforce with me, without ever having to speak about it. It was thrilling! Somewhere else in the world, a stranger worked on a little bit of sunshine along side me and with me. It’s possible they don’t even speak English!. Very cool!

I’m on the Google Pixel and it lets me remove words from being suggested, and only takes me a few times tapping out a word to add it to my suggestions. I use swipe and it’s only gotten better and better for me.

I’m guessing you’ve never been on TikTok. It’s a pretty good news source and information disseminator. Your algorithm feeds you what you pick so if you linger on posts from physical therapists and psychologists about child development, that’s what you learn about. If you linger on political posts highlighting our local and federal government’s corruption, you get that.

I’m all for banning it (and all social media) for children, but if you think TikTok is all trash TV, you’ve been successfully propagandized.

Those are easily disproven. There’s no way you think that’s the same thing. If you can pull up the source photo and it’s a clear match/copy for the fake it’s easy to disprove. AI can alter the angle, position, and expression on your face in a believable manor making it a lot harder to link the photo to source material

I bought a frame online from Michaels that arrived broken. I drove to the store, rather than pay to ship it back, and they said they would refund me the price of the frame, but not the shipping I paid for originally. It took a manager (15 minute wait) and many minutes of me insisting I shouldn’t have to pay anything for a broken product for them to finally just give up and swipe the card that allowed them to refund my shipping (only as store credit, mind you). They were not happy about it.

My circle has all turned on Airbnb. It’s a gamble. It used to be the gamble was worth it because it was cheaper than hotels, but now that they’re the same price, it’s not worth it.

Last time went great, the time before was not properly cleaned to guest standards, and they restained the wood walls in the kitchen so the whole place was permeated with an awful chemical smell that kept me from sleeping. At a hotel, you can just switch rooms if anything is suboptimal. At an air BNB, you’re stuck. Everyone in my circle has had half good half bad experiences and it’s just not worth risking your trip over.

My husband in tech related job has been out of work for almost a year. He applies to things daily and has an interview once every two weeks or so (not counting many follow up interviews). The problem with this is that if a non-manufacturer sells the “same” product, and they both use the same warehouse, Amazon keeps both versions of the product in the same bin, and there’s no way to guarantee whether you’re getting the real product or the knockoff.

If you buy post-it notes from the official post-it’s Amazon store, they’re not necessarily giving you post-its from the official post-its stock. You could be getting post-its from seller A6Zodiyn which were never stored properly and several years old so the sticky note glue doesn’t hold anymore. But both sellers were selling post-its in the same packaging, so they’re in the same box in the warehouse and what the pickers grab is random.

But also the completely fake post-its are in that box too, and they don’t stick as well plus their color is off, and there are fewer sheets per pad. But because the outer packaging is the same, same same warehouse box.
