Encephalotrocity@biglemmowski.winto World News@beehaw.org•Hamas ‘quietly drops’ thousands of deaths from casualty figuresEnglish0·3 months agoIf you were really curious you might have bothered to read the actual article. You would then know that the HJS is only one commenter in a list that also includes the Telegraph, and Honest Reporting within it. All of which are rated as right-leaning biased, but at least HonestReporting gets a “mostly-factual” from MBFC. The published data being criticized is from Hamas (and always has been).
The bias is good to be aware of, but the factuality is critical. Considering a left-biased Euronews published the same report I suspect there is some truth to the core facts being discussed.

Encephalotrocity@biglemmowski.winto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft won’t support Office apps on Windows 10 after October 14thEnglish1·5 months agoThe harder MS tries to force Win11 on me the clearer it becomes how bad it is.
I will move to another office suit, install, and learn a completely new OS like Linux after 40 years of Windows before I ever install their unnecessary and untrustworthy data-miner.
Win10 was bad but most of it could be removed/worked around. This time it’s clearly war against typical users so F it I’m out.

It just seems like such a bad idea from every angle you look at it. The hacking of them is simply stating the inevitable but it is just one issue in a large pile of BS even an honest purchaser would have to deal with using these things.

Encephalotrocity@biglemmowski.winto Technology@lemmy.world•Reddit is making sitewide protests basically impossibleEnglish0·9 months agoSo long as we’re being blunt, this criticism can be levied at Lemmy too. There is less accountability here and your only option is to ‘find a similar federated community’ because nobody seems to want any kind of accountability or standards in the mods. Well, you have basically 2 major communities and both of them are equally stupid but in opposite directions. Viable option indeed.
Encephalotrocity@biglemmowski.winto Technology@lemmy.world•Tor anonymity infiltrated: Law enforcement monitors servers successfullyEnglish12·9 months ago;tldr Tor is fine as long as you are keeping it, and related tools up-to-date. WTF am I doing with my life if it is this easy to scam 2.4million in a year? 1 year and I could yoink it all and move to some BF island in the middle of nowhere with no extradition and live the rest of my life playing Blackjack and Hookers.

Speaking generally, repair/Haynes manuals for vehicles and home appliances (the ones that exist ofc). Some are out there, but I almost never find the one I want.
