102·2 years agoThis is Nintendo… They’ll make you rebuy everything if you want to play it on the new console.

Technology@lemmy.world•Europe is looking to fight the flood of Chinese electric vehicles. But Europeans love themEnglish
73·2 years agoThe solid state batteries that seem to be clearly on the verge of mass production within the next few years are going to make everything they’re making now horribly obsolete. I’ve been considering a EV for my next vehicle and will definitely be waiting now.

61·2 years agoThey drag the corpses of their games along for money real good. Sometimes I think about the amount of people still paying a wow subscription and just sigh.

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft completes $69bn takeover of Call of Duty-maker Activision BlizzardEnglish
184·2 years agoActivision already ruined blizzard and is/was a shit company. Anyone buying their games still is a sucker who loves being ripped off. Nothing of value was lost here.

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft put their tax-evasion in writing and now they owe $29 billion.English
561·2 years agoDon’t forget to read down to the part where they are planning to continually tie this up in court until a Republican lets them off. Same thing they did with the anti-trust lawsuit. Same shit different day until something changes. I’ll believe they pay this when I see it happen.

Technology@lemmy.world•Some Walmart employees say customers are getting hostile at self-checkout — and they blame anti-theft techEnglish
18·2 years agoI think a lot of it has to do with that last part of your comment. The amount of times I’ve gone to the grocery store to find there’s no register open other than the self checks or that there’s 1-2 open at a huge grocery store with a 6-8 people in line for them and no self check line… People are being forced into self checking when they don’t want to. These people are obviously going to be more easily upset by issues with the self check machines. Walmart in my limited experience (try to never buy anything there if I can avoid it) is the worst offender I’ve seen.

World News@lemmy.ml•It’s time Europe reduced its defense reliance on the US, Czech president says
32·2 years agoFor US interests… ya, Russia taking whatever country it wants in eastern Europe is only on the US interest. Has nothing to do with anyone else. NATO is all Nazis or something amirite?

World News@lemmy.ml•Western-made armor isn't working in Ukraine because it wasn't designed for a conflict of this intensity, Ukrainian analyst says
203·2 years agoThis isn’t WW2, there’s plenty of anti tank weaponry available. It’s a lot cheaper than tanks and it’s going to do what it’s designed to do. Look how well tanks worked out for the Russians. Tanks are just not nearly as effective in modern warfare.

Technology@lemmy.world•Men Overran a Job Fair for Women in TechEnglish
161·2 years agoHow? If they make laws to stop discrimination you can’t exclude it protecting select groups. That’s just legitimizing discrimination as a form of corrective action for… discrimination…

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft Needs So Much Power to Train AI That It's Considering Small Nuclear ReactorsEnglish
51·2 years agoThe human body produces a lot of electrical impulses. What if they just took all their workers and put them in some type of “work pod” and harnessed the energy to run the large scale AI?
Astroturfed@lemmy.worldtoSNOOcalypse - document, discuss, and promote the downfall of Reddit.@lemmy.ml•Has the political spectrum on reddit shifted?
17·2 years agoI think the demographic of lemmy is more of the people that fled. Which means on average the site would of shifted a bit right and less in love with Linux. The few times I’ve poked my head in there the last couple months it’s been for sure less well moderated. Which means a lot more hate speech and right wing bullshit.
