Are you for real?

Are you for real?

What does this mean? Can someone explain in simple terms?

No idea. The whole copyright topic is a clusterfuck when it comes to LLMs. The matter of the fact is: most AI companies steal data to train their models and they don’t care about licenses or copyrights.

This guy is full of shit.
Let me rephrase his points:
Who the fuck gives Anthropic the right to use all that training data for their model?! And if other companies distill their models, THEY are to be protected by laws?! Cry me a fucking river.

Just because a law mislabels something doesn’t mean we need/should follow that.

Hmm well, okay. Then Codeberg isn’t for me.

What do you mean?

They won’t ever be able to compete with GitHub or GitLab like this…

I think it’s important to note that these models are open-WEIGHT and not open-SOURCE. Open-source would mean we could explore the training data itself. Open-weight models are great, but please let’s not call them open-source.

What’s the definition of cryptocurrency-RELATED? Who defines what this all includes? Bad decision by codeberg…

Not all of us. Just a few actually. But not playing fair will always give them an advantage.

Everyone, thank you so much for your helpful comments… ❤️ I have learned a lot these two days.
I looked at rsync and borg, and I have ended up using Pika as a GUI for Borg. I am now backing up my data with Pika to two external hard disks over SSH. Both of these external hard disks are encrypted with Pika/Borg. What a wonderful tool!

Wow, I just used this tutorial. rsync is amazing, and this actually makes everything so much easier. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

The only reason is that I am a noob 😄 Thanks, I will take at look at this!

keep the key safe
This might be a dumb question, but can I assume the keys are safe in the standard .ssh directory on Linux? Is there anything I should explicitly do to secure the private key?

Thank you. For now, I won’t try to connect to the server from the internet. I want to learn more about VPNs before I try anything like this. I am very paranoid when it comes to security, so I don’t want to risk anything… 😄
Thank you. I like the GPL idea more, to be honest.
