I am very happy with Jellyfin, although I only have a very basic setup (also to stream to a smart TV). It just works so far (after figuring out the permission to read my files on linux).

Edit: Emby annoyed me a little since some features are paywalled.

I am lazy too and admittedly have copy pasted code from an LLM but adding a new dependency without looking at a package registry seems crazy to me.

I read the article and I don’t think it factors in the upfront cost of R&D, Compliance, etc, so that’s basically a fantasy number.
