There were a few small subreddits I hung on for. Just a few niche communities that flew below the radar and avoided some of the bots and other enshitification. But when they forced logon for old reddit. I was done. I’ve been so happy here on Lemmy. I reminds me of how fun reddit used to be.
That’s kind of why I like Lemmy better. Rarely do I see reposted content. At one point I had a spreadsheet where I would log how many times I saw the exact same post on TIL or YSK.
Never thought this would be a badge of honour but I’m also proud I wiped my comments and deleted my account before they inevitably banned me for posting a 🍉 or something.
I would’ve seen their point maybe a couple years ago, but I can’t remember the last time I got to the bottom of the all feed here. And sister, I can scrrrroll. Like I start to grow mushrooms and I’m pretty sure my cat partially melds with me.
I also mod a couple communities on another account. Turns out if you just post things you’re interested eventually other people will join in and then you can just sit back and enjoy.
Yes! Hopefully with Lemmy being a bit more bustling now, the reddit users who are turned off by the login requirement will be more likely to stick around.
Yeah, people like you are changing it to something more palatable. And I’m seeing increases in different users posting/commenting more often rather than just the power users. Idk if it’s crossed the threshold for increasing usability yet, but I’m hopeful for it for the first time since I was new here that it’s slowly becoming better.
Judging by comments it’s almost entirely the lack of content on lemmy puts people off
Most people on reddit are lurkers looking for an infinite scroll.

The other part is lemmings. A lot of us here are very hostile.
if you encounter the tankie instances, or the blahaj purist , and startrek website instance, then they are super-combative.
Which to be fair so is reddit. Redditors have always been mercurial but it does feel like in recent years they’ve been much more combative.
Yep they really have
Which is insane, because reposts were rampant on reddit, to the point that I rarely saw anything new that wasn’t a news article.
they also started to recycle multiday old posts too. some have been reposted multiple times in a short amount of time.

Smaller communities are better.
Does reddit still have that repostsluthbot?
Yep! Here is far better quality
With migration comes content.
Yep… now spread the word! I’m forever banned on reddit so can’t
Reddit is banned from me.
Never thought this would be a badge of honour but I’m also proud I wiped my comments and deleted my account before they inevitably banned me for posting a 🍉 or something.
I’m suspicious about people who AREN’T banned from reddit
You mean bots?

As a person who tries to post a lot here to bring more content, it looked a lot different around here even 6 months ago.
Thank you for your service.

Excellent! I love seeing that increase, I love hearing from different types of people.
