Discord is working on reducing CPU and GPU usage while gaming via its new 'Game Mode' — but what does this mean for screen sharing?

Finally, Discord is working on a 'Game Mode' to reduce CPU and GPU consumption while gaming, but it seems there's still a lot of work to be done.

    Am I missing something here?

Wasn’t that the original purpose of Discord?

    Like, for gamers by gamers?

Everyone loses the fucking plot so fast these days.

I remember the og 2015 discord homepage said it was performant as a selling point

the random shit i remember lol

Voice chat that doesn't slow down your game
Designed for use while gaming, Discord has minimal impact on your CPU. Your game's performance won't be affected in the slightest. Seriously. It's time to ditch CPU hogs like Skype.

This is actually what pisses me off with modern tech, we have soo much computing power that we have forgotten to properly optimize.

What used to be a software problem, writing code efficiently has turned into a hardware problem, with only one solution:

Throw more computing power at it.
