AI curing cancer would be like AI curing ‘viruses’. For example, Tamiflu can help cure the flu but it’s not going to cure your HIV. You can take a prep pill to prevent you from contracting HIV but it’s not going to stop you from getting the flu.
Tumors react and behave differently. Two people can both have prostate cancer and very different treatment plans. There will never be a one size fits all ‘cure for cancer’. Even if that did exist, there is too much money made associated with cancer treatment. Healthcare is a business first. Patient care comes second no matter what they tell their patients and employees.
The comparison is ok, but aren’t there a few magnitudes more viruses than cancers?..and wouldn’t they get a ton of positive publicity from just solving one?..like way more than solving a math problem?
