Drop your weapon. You have twenty seconds to comply.

Oh ED209, you scamp. I already dropped the weapon.

But Patel observed that many of the robotic competitors were still being teleoperated by human operators who directly controlled the robots’ actions. The World Humanoid Robot Games allowed for human teleoperation of robots in certain events, but penalized the final score if robots were being remotely controlled rather than performing autonomously.

In other words, they know. The games preferentially favor fully automated bots. But that’s a really high bar, so they also don’t make you go home if your team can’t achieve that in every event.

But Robot Wars was up front about this use of remote control. The ccp hides it and miss labels them as “robots” which implies self controlling.

Also robot wars was a tv show, this article is pure propaganda lies to make it seem china came up w/ something new that the US and Europe had down 15 years ago or more.

It’s not hiding it… It’s in the rules.

You’re acting like this is one monolithic ccp program, but there are engineering teams from many universities and companies competing here. This is in fact a lot like Robot Wars, it’s just a flashy robotics competition, there are a lot of these.

The Chinese government didn’t build any of these robots, none of them. They don’t have any claim to have invented something new, because they didn’t invent anything. What I’m saying is, your complaints don’t make any sense.

Don’t bash the article before you read it.

Glazing the ccp as these are NOT ROBOTS, they are glorified toys that the rest of the world developed 15 years ago and the ccp thinks they are innovators on stolen tech.

All companies and universities fall under the ccp control, aka the chinese government. So yes they built them. How out of touch are you or are you a shill?

The future is terrifying. How many years before ice has those things chasing people down in the streets?

Watched a clip yesterday and learned that compared to just last year, there were four times as many contestants and they managed to complete the race in less than half the time.

But the really fascinating things were mundane tasks like chopping vegetables.

Comparing that to what Europe has got to offer is what scares me.
