most people just dont want to bother activating windows, legally or not. Because what does it do? cool it removes the water mark and lets you use the customization options in the theme menu, that’s not deal breaker for most.

most of the time it is a simple case of for somereason the hardware id based windows license from the OEM not working, usually because someone decided to upgrade to the Pro edition themselves or the IT guy when asked to reinstall windows defaulted to using the Pro edition, thus the license for Home edition from hardware id doesn’t work

In brazil, where I live, one could buy pirated copies of xbox 360 and ps3 games easily at local street markets during the early 2010s at broad daylight, enforcement of anti piracy on a indivual citizen level that I know of is completely unheard of, there have been cases where corporations without software licenses have been fined

it is completely normal to see computers with the activate windows water mark, I think I have seen more with the water mark than without it

what about piracy of russian intelectual property within russia? is it just case of double standards?

I use my android phons without a google acccount without having a custom rom, it is usable just that most people are too ignorant and clueless

or airplane mode without a sim chip

I disable location services, I dont have sim on my phone all the time, I only put the sim on the phone when I expect a traditional(insecure and shit) call or SMS (which I only ever get whe verifying phone number), my phone is always in airplane mode

you can still compile it for x86, and run it on x86, waydroid uses android for x86, it runs natively under a container with its own android userspace sharing the “host’s” kernel

from my experience none of my apps broke, only get some annoying please enable google play services notifications from whatsapp, and embed google maps also breaks, suprisingly my bank app works fine, havent had any issues beyond this, survives reboots but I havent tried updates as my phone doesnt receive those anymore and the rom scene for my model is non existent

AFAIK google doesnt share your data that much outside of being very permissive to law enforcement, their main thing is advertisement, kinda of a indirect sell, as in it is your data that brings value to their advertising since thats how they do their extremely invasive targeted advertising

i dont bother spoofing google play services, all my apps work without it, infact you can just disable google play services on android phones stock rom (or at least that has been my experience so far) and thats what I have done, sure gmaps embed now doesnt work but i havent needed it, my bank app works fine, whatsapp will throw a random “please enable google play services” notification once day but it works fine without any issues

does not happen to me, probably because i keep mobile data off and in the developer settings there is a keep mobile data always option that is enabled by default, for “fast network switching”, I disable it and beyond that I disable google playservices and all google related or adjacent apps that cant be uninstalled from my oem rom

as someone who is not a native english speaker when I first encountered people people prefer they/them I also found the same problem of ambiguity, and took quite a while to get used to it

brazil and piracy are a match made in heaven, I remember when I was 8 and my mom went with me to a openstreet market to buy xbox360 games, all were pirate copies selling in open sky to anyone to buy, copyright be dammed, and of course can’t forget the famous “gato” to watch all tv channels for free with a android box that definetly does not has a backdoor in it
