Oh I’m aware. In a way the plugin ecosystem is also one of the biggest issues with wordpress, it’s full of freemium garbage that violates the spirit and in many cases the letter of the GPL.
But the point is that if you want a complete replacement for wordpress, it isn’t just a blogging system you have to replicate. You also have to in some way replicate a forum, form builders, activitypub, an e-commerce system, calendar, booking system, SEO, page caching, ERP, CRM, etc.

Honestly coding a replacement wouldn’t be difficult, there’re already a few alternatives out there, it’s the thousands of plugins you’d need to replace.
One of the issues with alternatives like ghost is not having a good plugin system.

Or you opposed roko’s Basilisk.

You forgot: can be mass produced using unskilled labour

The limiting factor with zoom is often stability. There’s no way to hold a phone steady enough for a long zoom, and I don’t think any phone has proper optical image stabilisation.

For a long time mirrorless cameras had terrible battery life and no phase detect autofocus.
A DSLR doesn’t need to keep a screen powered all the time you’re looking through it. Improvements in the battery life of MILCs has made that non-issue for most people though.

Damn, I didn’t notice, it was the first half decent looking source I found to post.

There’s already Chinese knockoffs on aliexpress for around that. Most seem to run the proprietary HeyCyan firmware.

I’ve said it before, but if these things weren’t hooked up to a corporate cloud they would be great for sousveillance of the police and other authorities.
There’re some out there from other manufacturers that have open source firmware, unfortunately they aren’t cheap.

A completely unenforceable idea driven by moral panic. We’re already seeing plenty of cheap ones on temu, and other more covert types of cameras have been available for years. (Look up pen cameras on Amazon, you’ll look at anyone with a pen in their shirt pocket very differently for the rest of your life)
Not to mention there’s already open source 3d printed smart glasses. Which means this would no doubt lead to calls for ID checks to buy a 3d printer.

Tetris is famously litigious, but it’s hard to see how this wouldn’t be a protected parody.

Guess GNU/Linux is about to get popular with kids.

The ruling was on possession

"The Debian Project nevertheless expects that all contributions submitted to Debian, regardless of how and with which tools they were produced, satisfy the same standards of quality, correctness, maintainability, and legal compliance. The use of a generative AI tool does not diminish the contributor’s responsibility for the work they submit. Contributors are expected to understand, review, test, and, where appropriate, modify AI-assisted output before incorporating it into Debian. "
Basically, however it was written, you’re still responsible for it.

If it works off tiny changes in gravity, a really big rock would work.

Exploited workers are the secret ingredient to everything under capitalism.
It’s just an excuse to create a “papers please” internet.
