So I can see why people like the look of it.

I noticed articles and social media topics are going really aggressive with we need to ban social media because it’s bad for kids, and bunch of comments advocating for verification. Which of course would mean what discord is attempting to do with IDs and face scans.

Which is so bizzare seeing the backlash to discord by real people, but then non discord related topics all pro about verification.

What you are more likely to see is having to create and log into a Microsoft account on Windows or Apple account on MacOS to gain unrestricted access with IDs for verified accounts to be used on the OS.

With recent attempts at ID collection, subpoenas to reddit demanding user information of those critical of the US admin, and Palantir’s involvement your proposal is coming from a position assuming those groups aren’t the ones pushing for it.

Yeah, accidental voting happens to me when I’m using my phone. Kind of inevitable unless someone uses an app where voting is done through pulling left or right as opposed to tapping.

It depends on material too. Algorithm makes recommendations based on similar video, and something like Star Wars for instance has a lot of angry conservatives ranting about it so can skew towards youtube recommendations including them in Star Wars content.

On the other hand searching Expanse is less likely to see those conservative rant channels, since not as much content like that is made for it.

So even though Expanse and Star Wars are scifi, viewing and searching both of them will have different levels of right wing centered media you are likely to be recommended.

And depending on topic of interest the ideology of the most popular channels which youtube promotes also dictates what you’ll be recommended even if you don’t watch the channel. Like if you search PC stuff LTT will always dominate the first few pages of search results.

Yeah, I like OS installed on separate drives and selecting the one I want to boot off of in BIOS. Gets trickier on laptop though that doesn’t have multiple drives.

Few powerful people deciding everything and millions falling in line and the few outliers being affected even if they opt out due to decisions of millions of others who support the few powerful sums up the world.

Youtube is Google. I don’t see a positive to handing over personal information to Google which is necessary to give them money, and just makes it easier for Google to have all information tied to one signed in account. Having no Google account is best.

Freetube is nice alternative to using youtube without an account, since things like subscriptions, playlists, history are saved locally without an account. And you can back up that data.

And with Google being behind youtube its better to avoid signing into their accounts anyways.

Also blocks ads, can download videos, sponsor block, dearrow, and block channels.

Sometimes freetube breaks and that’s when I’ll fall back to youtube with adblock on browser, but I won’t log into youtube. But, you can still use it to get your subscription feed and click on the video to launch to browser.

For mobile I use pipepipe which is a fork of newpipe with sponsorblock and channel blocking.

Its not me but the person I responded to that is using one phone, so their work may not provide such things.

Not a good idea to mix personal and work devices. I’d recommend getting a cheap budget phone to use for work.

Yeah, IOT is the version to choose at install with it getting 10 years of support compared to 5 years for the regular enterprise.

Windows 11 ltsc is interesting in that its like a time capsule. More like Windows 7 than 10. Has no Microsoft store, no onedrive, no game bar. And has old Microsoft paint, calculator, and notepad from Windows 10 with no tabs.

There’s not really anything to uninstall. And it just gets security updates. Its a bare bones OS that feels closer to Linux because of that without the crap that even Windows 10 had showing tiktok and meta in the start menu to remove.

Windows 11 ltsc comes with old Notepad. Looks like the same one from Windows 10.

Chat control was one of the most notable signs that this is an issue around the world with it still popping up over and over in the EU. This is a global fight.

I don’t get it either. I see millions of followers but their streams don’t give off a vibe of someone with charisma worthy of that type of obsession.

Most of them come off of as really obnoxious loud people ranting into a mic. Well…maybe it does make sense seeing the type of people society has rallied around to hold positions of power.

Bet they going to try to use it as an excuse to require age verification. They want to collect everyone’s selfies and IDs for online accounts.
