2 months agoThis could have been done by any engineer. You need systems in place that make these things impossible. No easy access to prod environment. Proper backups. Clear APIs.

I love solar, but this article is misleading. It says ~2000 people died as a result of the Fukushima nuclear disaster. While technically true, only 1 person has died from radiation related to the event. The other deaths were as people were evacuating the exclusion zone (eg. Old people who couldn’t get medical treatment during the evacuation).

That wasn’t the reason. It’s mostly because cash app became so big that it got confusing if square was the company or the product. Same way Facebook became meta once the had Instagram.
Block is the parent company for square, cash app, tidal, afterpay. In the same way that meta runs Facebook and Instagram.

5·5 months agoI encode my music to opus 96kbps for my phone, and it sounds great. I can’t tell the difference between that and the original on Sony xm3s.
Compression algorithms have come a long way in the last 25 years. Comparing a 96kbps MP3 from LimeWire in 2000 to a modern 96kbps opus file will be night and day different. 96kbps opus today is extremely listenable, even on good speakers (granted I don’t have a million dollar setup, but I have studio monitors.)

Google is the biggest creator of bot traffic on the internet with its crawlers, not to mention what they do to train their AI. I bet this won’t block Google’s own bots.
