You’re right, though. AWS has far more data centers/regions. Even if a company only uses AWS, they can set up High Availability/Disaster Recovery solutions that replicate across AWS regions.

But they won’t because:

• management doesn’t understand the technology, just “cloud good”.
• the experienced tech workers who do understand that you still need HADR in the cloud have all been laid off or retired.
• redundancy costs…wait for it…money.

This is great advice for signing up for streaming services, and very, very bad advice for a gym membership.

They absolutely will send your delinquent gym membership account to collections and it will wind up on your credit report. It’s part of their business plan.

You’d have to sign up with a false identity, which is technically fraud.

I expected nothing yet I’m still disappointed…

I was really hoping this would go into effect so I could sign up for a gym membership. I’ll never sign up with a gym again…Their cancellation processes are offensive and predatory.

The “click-to-cancel” rule would force gyms to allow you to cancel your gym membership as easily as you signed up for it.

For some reason these businesses are against losing the free money they get for making it hard to cancel subscriptions.

Google Assistant on Android and Home devices gets markedly worse as time goes on. My Google Home can barely even figure out how to turn on lights anymore. Things that used to be amazing have devolved into “I don’t understand”.

It’s really quite shocking and hurts a little bit because it feels like everything in the world is degrading and decomposing like in some dystopian novel or something.

How can such amazing technology get worse? Is it really just “we can’t make money off this”?
