18·4 months agoI think it could happen, but it would have to be a foss app and a paid service or funded by ads, because you need paid people to moderate services like that, moderation on lemmy is about civility and people being mean to eachother, but moderation on a dating app might involve dealing with sexual assault and other illegal things in a much more prominent way. Or it would have to be funded by a government or charity which is not very likely in the present.

You could make that argument, but I think it’s important to note how these positions are chosen because it is a relatively unique and most countries don’t appoint government positions on a sect basis. Off the top of my head Singapore also does this and its convention to do this in Nigeria, but there are probably more examples.

Key points of the agreement stipulate that:
Lebanese Christians do not seek Western intervention, and accept that Lebanon had Arab features.

The President of the Republic and the Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces must be Maronite Catholic.

Yeah I’m gonna keep on posting Jacobin pieces, they have always published shitty pieces, but they are one of the only leftist English speaking publications in general, personally I have disliked the writing of the author of the piece you are referring too for years, Marketic has always been a huge Russia didn’t do anything wrong kind of guy in regards to Ukraine.
